Dr David Uncles provided me with excellent care. He reassured me by visiting me and introducing himself before I went for my operation. Any questions I had were answered and I had a chance to hear about what was going to happen. Before I went to sleep he spoke to me in a nice chatty way that relaxed me and made me feel like I could trust him.

I was admitted to Goring Hall Hospital for a total hip replacement and was provided with a number of helpful booklets beforehand to prepare me for the operation. I was given a choice of anaesthesia – general or spinal. I considered the pros and cons of each and was very unsure and anxious about which to choose. Dr Uncles came to see me prior to the operation to discuss the options and any concerns I had. He was kind and patient and reassured me completely about choosing the spinal. It was quite amazing as I felt fully alert on waking from the operation and was even able to have a conversation with Dr Uncles and my surgeon. I had expected to feel drowsy at best and nauseous at worst. Dr Uncles visited me the day after my operation to see how I was and was again kind and concerned. Altogether, it was the best experience I have ever had of anaesthetics and can’t thank Dr Uncles enough for his expertise and personal concern for me.

Dr Uncles was just the right sort of person to see before an operation, and he dropped in afterwards to check on me as well. I can't comment on his care while I was under the anaesthetic, but I certainly didn't wake up!

Suffice it to say that the attentiveness to your wellbeing during the operation was as good as if not better than the bits you rememeber pre and post operatively! Thank you for your feedback

Profile

I am a specialist Anaesthetist with interests in Obstetric, Ambulatory and Inpatient anaesthesia. I employ a variety of anaesthetic techniques including general or regional anaesthesia, although I often use them in combination to optimise and enhance patients' peri and post-operative experience.
I am dedicated to putting the patient first through the provision of safe and reassuring care delivered in conjunction with my colleagues and associates.
I was present at the inauguration of the Helsinki Declaration in June 2010. This enshrines the values essential to the promotion of the highest professional and safety standards expected of anaesthetists. It is my hope to match or even exceed the expectations of patients who place their trust in me.
